Wow ! Is often people’s reaction to this place. The 6 day Hinchinbrook Expedition is our flagship trip and one of the worlds best multiday sea kayaking trip. Imagine an island paradise lying off the North Queensland coast where towering mountains give way to pristine rainforest fringed by white, sandy beaches and warm, azure waters, on this island your footprints will be the only prints on the beach. Hinchinbrook Island is Australia’s largest island national park, and is wedged between lush UNESCO World Heritage rainforests and the Great Barrier Reef.

On this 6 day Sea Kayak holiday we paddle north from the small town of Lucinda out and along the beautiful east coast of Hinchinbrook island camping on secluded beaches, swimming in idyllic, clear fresh water holes and eating like royalty. Each day allows for just the right amount of activity as we paddle to the next stunning campsite. Its not all rush rush like many expedition trips and most days allow for some island time in the afternoon to chill out or go for a walk, a snorkel or just relax in a hammock. Each evening ends with a gourmet meal cooked by our skilled guides who are just as handy with a chef’s knife as they are with a paddle. All served up in natures restaurant, arguably some of the best alfresco dinning available.
After we reach the northern end of Hinchinbrook we begin island hopping. Our first stop is the tranquillity of Goold Island where we camp with beautiful views of the Family Islands to the north and the towering peaks of Hinchinbrook to the south. Enjoy an afternoon stroll around the island or inspection of fish traps built by the Bandjin and Girramay people. From Goold we continue north to picturesque Wheeler Island, one of the Family Island group. We spend our last night here before paddling by Dunk Island then back to mainland Australia where we make landfall at South Mission Beach and end our trip.
The 6 day Hinchinbrook trip is an unforgettable kayaking journey through pristine, tropical islands and through most of the season a gentle SE tailwind helps us up the coast. This trip is renowned among sea kayakers and adventurers as the best multi day sea kayak trip in Australia. What makes it one of the top kayak tours in Queensland, and in Australia? Hinchinbrook Island will never be over run by crowds due to a strictly regulated permit system. Coral Sea Kayaking is currently the only commercial operator on the Island, so it is unlikely to see anyone else at the secluded beaches we roll into each night.
We run small group trips to ensure safe, quality experiences and environmentally sustainable practices. Due to this, our Sea Kayak tours often sell out. Book now to avoid disappointment!
