Coral Sea Kayaking Beyond Borders
Welcome to our Beyond Borders Expeditions. Our aim; to explore the far flung frontiers of the Coral Sea, to boldly kayak where no kayaker has paddled before and to keep the spirit of adventuring alive in this modern age of monotony and seek the unexplored places on an over explored globe.
On these unique kayak expeditions you will be an integral cog in an expedition team. You will explore destinations so wild, remote and beautiful they will exceed your imagination and you will encounter indigenous cultures that will enrich and soften even the most hardened adventurer.
The Forgotten Islands Of The Louisiade Archipelago
The Louisiade Archipelago is a remote island chain made up of hundreds of islands stretching over 400km east of the Papua New Guinea mainland. Its geographical isolation has helped to preserve its rich Melanesian culture and the area is host to its own incredibly rich Canoe culture. Within the Archipelago each island group has its own unique language, canoe designs and traditions- one thing everyone has in common is a love of paddling.
As enticing and as beautiful as they are, the islands of the Louisiade Archipelago are not for the average tourist. It is a difficult corner of the world to get to with flight delays and cancellations that frustrate the most toughened traveller, and once there, unexpected changes are to be expected. Whilst paddling conditions are often ideal, calm and picturesque, the Archipelago reaches precariously far out in the Coral Sea. This means that the area is subject to changing conditions, and not a sheltered millpond. Strong winds, ocean swells and some of the strongest tidal currents in the world are just a part of life in the Louisiades.
