Looking back over 2024 and ahead to our 2025 Sea Kayaking tours

We just wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone who has joined us on the water this year, all the guides who have helped make trips so memorable, and all the people that we have worked alongside to make it all happen!

Since purchasing Coral Sea Kayaking late in 2023, it has been go, go, go. Much of this work has been to create a stable foundation for the business, such as finding a suitable base of operations and upgrading key equipment for our multi-day sea kayaking operations. Another big task has been working with National Parks to ensure Hinchinbrook Island is the best sea kayaking trip in Australia, while respecting the tightly permitted wilderness appeal of the place. On all of our sea kayaking expeditions in 2024, we were stoked to be able to offer side hikes into incredible locations such as Zoe Falls, Mulligan Falls, Nina Peak, and other secret spots around the island. Some of these were places that we were not allowed to visit in years gone by, however through collaboration and communication with Parks we are now able to offer this to our guests.

Another massive challenge which we have overcome, was getting Papua New Guinea sea kayaking adventures back up and running after four years of post-COVID stagnation. This involved re-designing all logistics to fit in with current realities in PNG, scouting new routes in the Louisiades Archipelago, forging new relationships with many partners and friends in Milne Bay Province, and finding a new base of operations in Alotau. Another huge achievement was importing a brand-new fleet of Australis Komodo Sea Kayaks into PNG for use throughout Milne Bay.

Overall, we’re incredibly proud of our first season, and overwhelmingly positive feedback confirms that our Hinchinbrook Island sea kayak trip is one of the best sea kayak tours in Australia. Its unique blend of open ocean kayaking, jaw-dropping scenery, incredible side hikes, and swimming holes in a raw, wilderness setting confirm Hinchinbrook as the top multi-day sea kayak tour in Queensland. Once we add in the best guides in the business along with mouth-watering gourmet catering, you have the top kayaking holiday. Hinchinbrook by sea kayak truly offers an unmatched active adventure holiday.

Looking ahead to 2025 and beyond:

We are excited to refurbish many of our fiberglass composite kayaks prior to the 2025 season. We are proud to work with a fleet of kayaks that are not disposable, do not have a finite lifespan, and will never end up as microplastics in landfill or the ocean. Our sustainable fleet is almost 30 years old, and as long as we keep it in top condition, there is no limit to how much further they can paddle. To put that into perspective, every person who has ever paddled Hinchinbrook Island on a sea kayak tour has done so in one of our kayaks, which are still going strong. These are more spacious, more stable, and cut through the water cleaner than any plastic kayak ever will.

We will be offering more Papua New Guinea kayak trips in 2025 and beyond and look forward to working with local people to make this the best sea kayak trip in PNG and ensure it continues to have real and positive impacts for the communities that we visit. Keep an eye on our updated webpage for more information or sign up for updates.

A bit closer to home, we will be offering more 3-day sea kayaking trips off the Cassowary Coast and also adding a family islands glamping sea kayak trip and a high-end Bedarra Island luxury sea kayak tour to our quiver of tours from Mission Beach. Additionally, Townsville and Cairns will feature prominently in our expanded offerings, solidifying our position as the top Queensland kayaking tour operator. Our expanded range of multi-day kayak trips in Queensland will ensure we remain the leaders in providing the best sea kayak tours in the region.

Final Thoughts

Our trips provide opportunities for kayaking holidays that blend wilderness sea kayaking, camping and kayaking adventure, and unparalleled cultural experiences. Whether you're looking for deserted island kayaking, national park kayaking, or a sea kayak expedition in Australia, we have something special for you. Island hopping by sea kayak, visiting iconic locations like Zoe Falls—the best infinity pool in Australia—and exploring pristine coral reefs are just some of the unforgettable experiences we offer.

For those seeking more adventure, our ocean kayak expeditions include trips to some of the most remote and stunning areas in Papua New Guinea and beyond. From Milne Bay Province to the Louisiade Archipelago, these journeys are perfect for those looking for Australian kayaking adventures or a unique Papua New Guinea kayaking holiday.
